If you are a mental health therapist who finds immense gratification with being able to positively impact those around you, you have a real soft spot for the lives of children and families, you prefer working in an environment that not only provides a lot of flexibility but collaboration as well, and you highly value personal and professional growth in your own life, we need you!!
Mind Spa is excitedly looking to hire a child-focused mental health provider (LPC, LCSW, Psychologist, or LMFT) to our robust team of providers in our Cheyenne, WY office. We are a fun and thriving private mental health practice located near the heart of downtown Cheyenne, and we have a STRONG need for clinicians who specialize in children and teens. We have a very functional and supportive team atmosphere and collaboration is paramount. The company mission and values center on being authentic and offering truth and compassion to those we work with, both our clients and our coworkers.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR WORK AND OUR CLIENTS
The city of Cheyenne and surrounding areas offer a range of demographics and mental health problems. There are multiple community mental health agencies that have resources for and cater to the chronic mentally ill, severely mentally ill, and low-income populations (i.e. no insurance). The population niche that our practice fills is the group of fairly functional people (those who you’d walk by on the street and wouldn’t think twice about) but who are experiencing challenges. Sometimes the challenges are very normal and uncomplicated (such as the parents who are struggling with their 13-year-old son’s developmentally normal growing sexual curiosity) and sometimes the challenges are more complicated (such as marital dysfunction as the result of childhood abuse of the wife). We work with a variety of clients- adult, teen and children; parents with kids; married and unmarried couples; divorced/separated families; step-families; traditional families; even some businesses. You will primarily be engaged in treatment with kids and adolescents (roughly 50-75% of your clients), and also engage in some parenting support and family therapy. You will have opportunities to lead groups, engage in workshops, and be creative in developing additional ways of positively impacting children and families in our community. We also specialize in telemental health, which includes having dedicated space, technology and billing support for our expanding work across Wyoming.
As a Practice, our youngest patient has been 3 and our oldest, 93. We use standard office appointments, off-site appointments at community locations, walks around the block and to local parks, patients’ homes (if desired), and through telemental health. A few specific trends in our children population include treating depression, anxiety, and trauma; working with blended families; working with Christian clients who prefer to have their faith integrated in to their treatment on some level (approx 40-50% of clients); and seeing military families. We view our therapeutic work as an opportunity to live out a truly therapeutically healing relationship, in which compassion, love, and respect are foundation. We have a great working relationship with many physician offices, other mental health providers, non-profit organizations, and churches. In fact, we actually have a D.O. (physician who specializes in nutritional medicine), a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, an M.D. (family practice doctor), physical therapist (PhD provider), and massage therapist located in our offices too. We espouse having a robust and collaborative relationships that provide a multi-faceted integration of wellness.
We value being creative in what services we deliver and how we deliver them. For example, we have offered parenting workshops, skills groups, delivered group treatment to other agencies, and are currently developing some other groups. We have two certified therapy dogs. We also engage in mediation with divorced or divorcing clients who are fighting at the detriment of their kids’ welfare. While we embrace and value the tradition and research behind the conventional style of therapy, we also embrace and value being ingenious.
Because of our frequent work with the conservative Christian population, having a Christian Counseling Competency is important to our practice. About half of our patients report as being Christian and look for some level of faith integration in the therapeutic environment.
ARE YOU THE RIGHT FIT WITH US?
We are looking for someone who is passionate about what they do, finds their work their real calling, and finds immense value in helping improve the life of others through the venue of mental health care. The right person will be a disciplined self-starting individual who can utilize the team atmosphere but is able to demonstrate personal accountability to his or her own work with patients. We are looking for a person with very stable and reliable values centered on honesty, beneficence, and excellence. We have intentionally built a team that appreciates and values each other. Whoever joins the Mind Spa team will continue to add to our reputation for personalized care and professional service and will joyfully contribute to our fun and supportive office atmosphere.
YOUR WORK WITH US
As our newest team member, your primary focus will be to utilize your gifts and skills in facilitating counseling appointments with patients, meeting in the Mind Spa offices as well as locations in the community as needed. Therapy can include individual, group, and family. You will develop and monitor individual treatment plans, complete necessary documentation for different therapeutic interactions and billing purposes via our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. You will be part of our weekly staff meetings and contribute to the group dynamic and consultation. We want you to contribute creatively to different marketing and networking opportunities in the community via written word, presentations and individual appointments. We have an active blog, in which you can contribute original articles. Additionally, we expect that you will seek to be creative and industrious in not just carrying out the typical therapeutic modalities and methods, but also in finding new ways of meeting the needs in our community, such as out-of-the-box groups or workshops. In summary, your main focus is providing good clinical care.
As a therapist, you are paid a percentage of the revenue of your work. This is really an amazing way of doing it because you are not locked in to a meager salary!! You have the flexibility and power to make more income than you would at most salaried positions (this is the feedback we’ve received from clinicians). For our team members who are nervous about any potential “down” months and who are concerned about the ability to weather the first couple months as your case load builds and the reimbursements come in for your work, we have some really creative and helpful strategies of ensuring you continue to have an income. We will talk more about this through the interview process, if we are a good fit for each other.
OUR CULTURE AND BENEFITS TO YOU
The agency is committed to supporting the skills and abilities of each team member, providing opportunities for learning, growth and excellence both personally and professionally. As a team member, you will be provided a complete support staff and will be given opportunities to work in multiple settings, with a range of demographics, and with a variety of mental health problems. We encourage and facilitate support for brainstorming solutions to community needs and implementing new ideas.
Our administrative team does an outstanding job at taking as much of the paperwork and administrative work off your plate. They keep track of billing, scheduling with clients, managing client concerns, etc. Our clinical team quite often expresses their appreciation for all the work that the administrative team takes off their plate! Especially for the clinicians who are used to private practice. This is a breath of fresh air for clinicians who don’t want to be buried in the back-end work of therapy.
As a Practice, we are generalists. However, all of our team members have the flexibility of developing and working in areas of specialties. You will be provided a fund every year for both continuing education opportunities and for advancing your own faith journey. We provide supervision and consultation for every clinical team member, both formally and informally and utilize peer learning. We will provide you with office space, computer, and all other necessary materials and equipment to carry out your calling.
