Adult Individual Therapy
As humans, we were designed to be in community with others and to seek counsel. Mind Spa strives to meet the needs of those that want to work on a variety of personal goals and problems. Let us come alongside you and support you in your struggles. Our team of counselors is competent to work with a very wide range of mental health issues. However, if we are not the best choice in helping you with your specific struggles, then we will help in finding the right resources for you.
Adolescent Individual Therapy
Being a teen is hard work. You are trying to manage so many things that are all competing for your undivided attention: making and maintaining friendships; keeping up with your school work to make yourself proud or at least keep from getting into trouble; sports, groups and other hobbies; deciding and preparing for life after high school; making money so you can have a social life; figuring out who you are really romantically interested in; deciding if or when you are going to follow along with the “crowd”; coping with mean peers; avoiding family members that don’t understand you; all while trying to figure out who you really are and what you really like. Our fundamental purpose in adolescent counseling is to support you while you navigate this crazy time in life, figuring out what is most important to you and how to meet the goals you have.
Child Therapy / Play Therapy
Your child can experience a lot of the same emotions as you do, but they don’t understand those emotions and can’t just tell what’s wrong. They also don’t have the life experiences and knowledge that is vital in coping and healing. Sometimes the thing that “feels” most natural, like avoidance, can actually keep your kiddo stuck in their emotional pain and turmoil. Child therapy (typically in the form of “play therapy”) focuses on helping your son or daughter communicate their feelings and experiences through their most well-developed form of communication- play. Directive and non-directive play becomes an important vehicle for them to know and accept themselves and others and to continue on their developmental path.
Marriages can provide a tremendous amount of support and stability when they are working well and are healthy. Mind Spa works with married couples that have a broad range of difficulties: from being on the brink of divorce and needing a complete relationship overhaul to relationships that are running fairly well but just in need of general tune-up or fine-tuning in a specific area. At Mind Spa, we develop a plan catered to your needs using a combination of proven relationship therapy strategies- including the scientific work of Dr. John Gottman and the time-tested Prepare-Enrich© relationship assessments.
Couples usually spend well over $10,000 on the wedding day with no guarantees of relationship success. High quality premarital counseling will help provide your marriage with a solid foundation that won’t be shaken by the difficulties that will come for you and your future-spouse. Even if your relationship has been virtually perfect up to this point, I guarantee you that there will be challenges ahead. At Mind Spa, we develop a plan catered to your needs using a combination of proven relationship therapy strategies- including the scientific work of Dr. John Gottman and the time-tested Prepare-Enrich© relationship assessments.
We believe that the family is the most fundamental relationship in life that shapes who we are and how we interact with others. Mind Spa works with families (children, parents, grandparents, caretakers, siblings) to improve relationships and the atmosphere of the family.
Christian Faith-Based Therapy
Mind Spa understands that incorporating your Christian faith into counseling is the most effective and productive way to meet your needs and to grow through your struggles. If your Christian faith is extremely important to you and is a fundamental part of your daily life, then you might want to consider working with a counselor that is dually training in both mental health treatment and the integration of Christian faith into therapy. We have trustworthy counselors who have both the training and expertise to effectively collaborate with you to ensure your beliefs and faith practices are part of the healing process.
Sometimes we have struggles and can’t always specifically identify the cause(s). Psychological evaluations can help shed light on what underlying issues might be affecting you at this time in your life. Evaluations can also help answer specific questions, like “Do we have ADHD?” Some psychological evaluations are only able to be conducted by a psychologist. Dr Fluellen is a licensed psychologist and performs a variety of psychological evaluations that can help answer questions that are plaguing your life. She works in collaboration with any other medical or mental health professionals that are already working with you.
